People watching, Paris edition

Sights and sounds from a walk through Paris.

Parisian cafe people watching

There might not be a better city in the world for people watching than Paris. Especially in September, when all the Parisians are slowly coming back from their August holidays. It’s an underrated month in Paris, and Europe in general, because most American families are back home getting ready for school or their own return to life. It can still be busy, but the crowds have thinned just enough to find some peace. Stores and restaurants are starting to re-open, and the weather is still good enough to spend time outside, at least between some intermittent showers.

Whenever you go to a city like Paris, one of the best things to do is to carve out a day or two and just walk the city. Pick a direction and start walking. Hop on the metro for a few stops and keep walking. Sit down at a random cafe, watch the life pass by, and then walk some more.
